As I was reading Luke 18 today on the persistent/ annoying widow.. I found myself putting my current reality into the story.
Basically, there was a desperate widow begging the judge who did not fear God to "bring her justice and protection from her adversary." He finally was annoyed with her persistence enough to do as she asked because he knew if he didn't she'd just keep coming back.
I started think about my two amazing little *toddler* *adult* *young* *men*, Benjamin and Brayden. I thought about how if Brayden takes Benjamin's t-Rex plush toy that he sleeps with... it will be nothing but "mommy mommmmmy MOMMYYYYYYYYY MOMMMMMMMMMMMYYYYYYYYYY MOM MOM mom MOMMY MOMMMMMMMYYYYYYYY" until I acknowledge Benjamin's adversary. Benjamin wants justice and he wants it now. Or if we *accidentally* tell the boys we are going for ice cream after school.. their poor teachers hear about it all day and when we pick them up it's "mommy are we there yet? Mommy I'm so excited for ice scream!!!! Mommy, ice cream right NOWWWW (Brayden)"
To put it plain... they want justice. Their persistence is what turns my ear. Our persistence turns the Fathers ear. At the end of the story in Luke 18 it says:
"And will not [our just] God defend and avenge His elect [His chosen ones] who cry out to Him day and night? Will He delay [in providing justice] on their behalf? I tell you that He will defend and avenge them quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find [this kind of persistent] faith on the earth?""
Luke 18 : 7 - 8 AMP
To me this passage was like "yeah yeah yeah don't you know that our JUST God will surely bring JUSTICE to your situation, ****HOWEVER**** the real point is... will the Son of Man find faith on the earth?
Will your persistence in asking for "things" match your persistence with faith IN the One who made ALL things?
In other words, yes... ask and you shall receive. Believe big for your Ephesians 3:20 moment. But, will your faith exceed your desires? At the end of the day, we all want justice for our circumstances and I believe God is big enough to do it all.. but do you want justice more than you want friendship with the Judge? If I call someone a friend, that means I trust them, I know I can count on them, and I know they'll be there if I call. Friendship with Jesus is no different! He can be trusted, you can count on Him, and you can call on Him at any time or any place and He'll answer the call. He's the greatest friend of all time.
Get persistent about your faith and friendship with Jesus. He's too good to miss out on. His presence will satisfy. Your faith turns His ear, and changes everything. #MinutesWithMandy #DareToBelieve #Faith #Encouragement #MomOf3
